Lost thoughts: Independent happiness

There’s something to be said in not hinging your happiness on other people. If you can find hobbies, sports, activities, books, recipes, yoga routines, the list goes on, that you yourself find our unbridled joy in, then don’t loose that. Without sounding cynical, but depending on other people always leaves room to be let down.

People come and go, their time is theirs. They perhaps, sometimes, won’t value your time as much as you value yours. Priorities and patterns change, you are the only one you can depend on. If you don’t pin your hopes on others, there’s no room to be let down and you can provide your own joy. Time stops for no one, so who are you waiting for.

Do your best to find things you can do for yourself. Suggestions include yoga, pilates, art, drawing, scribbling, painting, walking, dance, zumba, running, baking, stitching. You name it you can have a go. You don’t have to do these things for gains or competitive ambitions. You can just do them for fun. I’m not being cynical, I’m just saying depend on yourself. That gives you more time to love freely and chaotically the people around you, without depending on them for activities or entertainment.
